An exploration into the meaning of the first genocide of the twentieth century to young Namibians. In a collaborative work with internationally renown 2016 recipient of the Robert Bosch Stiftung Prize, Mourad Kevork, the OYO dance troupe, in collaboration with guest dancers such as Monray Garoeb and West Uarije will premiere a breath-taking multi-media work at the NTN.
Kevork Mourad was born in North Syria. Of Armenian Heritage, he received his Master of Fine Arts from the Yerevan Institute of Fine Art. Currently living in New York, he is a visual artist of the Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble and has performed in the States, Canada, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, France and Qatar among others.
The OYO dance troupe is renowned for its unique use of physical theatre to challenge the Status Co. It has represented Namibia at the 2014 Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival in Glasgow and has performed in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Botswana and South Africa.
