This program transforms to stage grade 11 and 12 literature set work for the schools. This process enables the learners to better understand the often complicated texts of prescribed work.
The productions are performed at the NTN and engage teachers in practical discussion of the content with the learners and the cast.
These plays are then recorded by NBC in order to benefit the rest of the Namibian children in all corners of the country repeatedly so that it does not only benefit the Khomas region although they have the advantage of seeing it live during the recording. Should the regions be interested in the live performances, they will be eligible to fund such tours at request and availability of Cast & Crew Members.
Besides the performances for the schools, it is also employment creation for our performing artists who rarely have opportunities to perform.
The High School Set-work on Stage is an annual Educational program aimed at creating a platform for grade 11 & 12 learners and teachers to engage with prescribed texts which forms part of the English syllabus for the current NSSC curriculum of 2016 – 2019 (Attached). The texts are revised every 3 years with a possibility to repeat previous texts. This initiative further enables the learners to better comprehend the stories in preparation for their external exams.
