Thumbelina - Ballet Featured

  • Storyline: The Story : Act I A women longs to have a child of her own. She was visited by a good witch, who gave her an acorn & tells her to plant it in a flower pot. It soon grows into a beautiful flower and in that flower is a tiny maiden. The women names the child Thumbelina. She is introduced to the chickens on the farm yard and enjoys dancing with them. At night time Thumbelina dreams of meeting a handsome prince and at midnight a young prince does arrive on a bumble bee. His name is Prince Cornelius. Mrs Toad, who has heard of Thumbelina’s beauty, thinks she would make a perfect bride for her son. So the toads kidnap Thumbelina and take her to their café in the woods. Thumbelina is not happy there and is rescued by Prince Cornelius, Jacabo the swallow & the Love birds. In the confusion, Thumbelina is separated from Prince Cornelius and is all alone as the cold winter, brought on by the Ice Fairy King & Queen, approaches. Act II The Jitterbugs take Thumbelina to the Jitterbug ball, but Mr Bug does not like Thumbelina – he thinks she’s ugly & clumsy. Once again Prince Cornelius comes to her rescue, but Mr Bug attacks Prince Cornelius and pushes him into his ice box, where he freezes. Thumbelina goes to Mrs Field Mouse for help, but she has other ideas – she want Thumbelina to marry Mr Mole. The Jitterbugs come to Thumbelina’s rescue and help free Prince Cornelius from the ice box. They journey to Vale of the Fairies, where Thumbelina & Prince Cornelius are married and Thumbelina is given a beautiful pair of wings. Price : N$ 150.00 Matinee show starts 14:00 on 22 July 2017.
