  • Storyline: The National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) is staging DEUR DIE TRALLIES VAN MY HOK, under its Premier Productions Project; a predominantly Afrikaans play written and directed by Kubbe Rispel. This is the tragic contemporary inspired story of what happens when a girlfriend/wife/ fiancé becomes a possession of her boyfriend and victim of jealousy, which ends in the tragic death of the girl. These tragic deeds can occur in any sphere of society like in this case where the characters are: • Ben – very rich, sophisticated, highly motivated entrepreneur with a beautiful house, a millionaire, and • Mandy – his fiancé, a soft spoken, caring teacher. Beautiful physically and inherently who is involved with the social upliftment of society and deeply cares for the marginalized people in society, like • Kapie en Ou Toppie who are doing menial labour around the neighbourhood but who are keen observers whose comments on the behaviour and mannerisms of the rich people are sometimes the only truth spoken in these close societies. • There are also Jack and Joy, Mandy’s bohemian, hippy-like friends whose obvious dislike of Ben increase the friction and conflict already existing and leading to the ultimate act of passion killing. For the bystander, it is unnecessary, but is there any justification for passion killing? The play will be on stage the 27 and 28th of October 2017 at the NTN, 20H00. Tickets are available at all Computicket outlets, including the NTN Box Office at N$80-00 and N$50 (For Children, Students & Pensioners)
