Boet & Sus is an Afrikaans multimedia theatre production that highlights the kallids (coloureds’) experience in contemporary Namibia. A part talk show, part drag show, Boet & Sus explores the highs and lows of feeling somewhere in the ‘middle’. This is a theatre production about community, escapism, & expression.
The story follows a reporter, Chaze, as she pursues an undercover investigation in the house of a fanatic prophet. She tries to uncover his secrets and expose his lies to the people only to find, that the prophet, might have deeper and darker secrets than she expected.
Grandpa’s Story is play that reminds the audience of the beautiful world we live in and how we need to preserve this beautiful planet for future generations to enjoy.
A Premiere Production. The National Theatre of Namibia in cooperation with the Goethe-Institute’s International Coproduction Fund presents Rehearsing Mwange/Becker. Namibian theatre practitioner Sepiso Mwange and German puppeteer Mathias Becker investigate theatre as a space of knowledge. They reflect on their own experiences and the formation of knowledge in the theatre space, seeking to learn more about performative practices in Namibia. The audience is invited to join this performative experience – a devised work combining performance, mixed media, puppetry and documentary theatre.
Presenting the Tswana folktale, the play follows the story of eight-year-old Tselane who is abducted from her village home by a giant which terrifies the community. Shaken but united, the villagers along with the audience devise a plan for Tselane's safe return.
