The Generational Focus Leadership Consultancy in partnership with the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) proudly presents the master class titled “Language as an Economic Commodity in National Development”. Open to emerging scholars, writers, artists and cultural workers, the seminar seeks to propose strategies towards sustainable linguistic practices in Namibia. The speakers further aim to enlighten on how writing approaches and language applications can enable survival, growth and the exploration of newer ways of life, amid changing times globally.

The objectives of the master class are:

  • To enlighten on how writing practices can transform indigenous languages into economically viable spaces and processes.
  • Share research skills and methods for writers, in order to understand the basic economy of our given households and communities as targets.
  • Enlighten on how Language is linked to Economics.
  • Unpack issues concerning literature and sustainability in Namibia.

The master class thus echoes the importance of developing Namibian Literature with the key commitment to promote reading and writing culture to empower the Namibian youth, and make their voices heard in matters concerning them.

Books that have been published by the speakers will be available for sale during the seminar.

Speakers’ information:

  1. Indileni Nanghonga– is a Senior Research and Product Development Officer at Agribank Namibia Ltd where she facilitates economic and financial research in addition to business and market intelligence analysis as well as data modeling and analysis. She holds an Honours Degree in Economics from the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in economics at the University of Namibia (UNAM). Prior to joining Agribank, Indileni worked at Simonis Storm as an Economist.
  2. Petrus Mbenzi- is an Oshiwambo Senior Lecturer in the Department of Humanities and Arts at the University of Namibia. His research interests include Oshiwambo onomastics, oral tradition (totemism and ethnoscience) and rhetorics,’orature and linguistics. He has authored several papers and books on the said disciplines.
  3. Otto Kapuka- is an author in the area of Social Structuring. A motivational Speaker, a seasonal farmer, counsellor with radio personality. He holds a Bachelors of Education in Lifelong Learning.
  4. Ndapandula Silas- is a writer and author of the book “I am Within” and editor.
  5. Augustinus M Ngombe– is a teacher and administrator by profession, a Certified Agile leader by Scrum Alliance, an author of Leadership & Knowledge, school counsellor, columnist and public speaker. He holds a Bachelor of Education (Honours) and Master of Business Administration (MBA).
  6. Penehafo Kwaamushi Endjala- is a mother entrepreneur, author of two books: ‘Count Your Blessings’ and ‘In Life We Need One Another’. She holds a Bachelor’s Technology degree in Accounting and Finance and a Master in Business Administration degree
